1. Will the 75$ upgrade work when upgrading from such an earlier version and what 'new' additions to the program have I missed in the last 4 upgrades ? (Been doing a lot of multi-cam video engineering for awhile.)

Uhm, I think it's a long list, but the most important for me is Smart bones.
Anyway, the overall interface has changed and now it's a lot more intuitive, powerful and easy to use.
