Image Fill Transparency

Post by e1 »

Hi,

I'm getting back into anime studio and am trying to set up a character using a mix of vector lines and image textures.
I want my textures to deform with the bones, so I've used a texture fill on a simple outline of the whole character on
the back of the same vector layer. Everyting is working and deforming nicely but before creating my smart bone actions
I want to get rid of the white ouline on my texture fill.

Image

Can someone explain why you I still have a white shape fill using a png image texture fill. I'm also open to any other
ways of achieving the same result.

thanks,

e1

Check the PNG: make sure you really got transparent pixels, not some halo or artifacts from a fuzzy selection.

Check the layer: did you add any halo effect?

If I'm understanding well, I think it's an AS limitation. You can't have an image texture and no fill behind it. It's a not important problem until you use images with alpha. The same thing happened with gradients before, you couldn't have a transparent gradient, because the transparency showed the fill of the vector.
It's frustrating, because the gradient problem was fixed, but not his brother, the image texture problem.

Now, there's a workaround. Instead of using image texture, use making. You can have an image being masked by a vector layer. And you can make the vector layer be invisible. So only the masked image will be shown.

HI,

Reading my original post, I decided to upload a new image, as the first one didn't really show the
shape fill because of the white background. I think I pushed every anime studio button to try and
not have the shape fill color show through the transparent parts of the png texture.

Thanks for the masking tip!
I also want to use the smart bones feature and need to make sure I can make the two layers move
and deform nicely together. Maybe I can animate the mask to help with that.

It would sitll be nice to have a AS feature that allows you to have an image texture with no fill color
behind it. Is there a feature wishlist anywhere we can add it to?

Thanks again for the help :)

Why not just use an image on transparent? Warps the same as a texture.

Is there a sample file somewhere of a character that is rigged up using a vector layer for the lines
and a transparent image (with a mask layer) for the texture/color. If not I can always upload mine
and try and massage that into shape. How do you attach an anme. file to a post?
