create a fan [rotation at a specific point]

Post by lokoshoen »

hello friend, this day I have a problem, what happens is that I want to animate a fan, and I have all the base, and a blade. the main problem is that the viewing angle is 3/4, not front or side. I use anime studio 8

I want is to rotate this blade, but whenever I use the rotation tool makes the rotation in the center, if I could make the point of rotation at an edge would be perfect.

another idea that I have is to make a 3D view, but I have not done anything in 3D in anime studio, the idea would be to create the fan with front or side, and rotate the 3D camera a little to the perspective I want.

thank you very much for your answers.

As long as you keep it a bit abstract and don't care for the inner geometry of the fan blades, you can quite well rotate the wheel normally, then scale that whole layer.

If you need a bit more realism, do it frame by frame. The nice thing is if your fan has 3 blades you only need to animate a third of the rotation, in 4 frames.

Here's one I did in TVPaint, animated woodcut look, 7 frames:

If you use AS' 3D tools, it might be feasable to animate only the fan in perspective, then render this out as movie or image sequence, and re-import it into your finished scene, so you can play around with camera without distorting the fan.
