Gimp advise for anime studio?

Hi, Im busy drawing characters in Gimp to use in anime studio and I just need to know what is the best size canvas to use in Gimp to produce good quality Bitmap drawings for my characters body parts?

This depends on your project dimensions. If you produce in HDTV, that would be 1920 * 1080 px. A character should be 1000 px tall then. But wait, you're going to have a close-up of his face? So his face must be 1000 px high, and the rest of his body scaling accordingly.

Of course you know how to draw elements on transparent, and save them as PNGs with transparency ...
