Eve of October... Season 1 posted

Post by neomarz1 »

If you have been a visitor to Studio Mars, then this showcase isn't new. I recently did some spring cleaning on my youtube channel. I wanted to get all the episodes up for the first film. In the past people had to sort through the my mess of postings hoping to make sense of it all... Well, this is no longer a problem, you can follow all the episodes (From the first season OVA1).

Please subscribe to my channel, and post anything you like. I like sharing knowledge, and dont be afraid to ask questions.

I want to say that... well... I did not make my October deadline for the second Film (Season 2), but we are very close. You can follow the progress of the second season (OVA 2)

I will have a look at your site now to see how you are getting on with the second film. I really like your style and enjoyed the first film a lot.

Already subscribed and I noticed a glut of videos posted recently. I'll have to have a gander at them. I've seen all the clips and tests, but never the whole animation in one pass. I look forward to it!

Well... That's exactly why I did this. I know everyone has had a lot of patience digging through all the clips... I knew a lot of people probably couldn't make any sense of it all. When you are involved in the process you forget that your actually telling a story to other people, and not yourself. There is a lot of dialogue in the first OVA, but I am happy to say that the second one will be a lot more exciting. I think the first film would have made a horrible "pitch" pilot. These days you have to make your point very quickly. I was raised on sleepy kid shows. Try getting a kid to sit through a "Land of the Lost" episode. OVA 2 is not sleepy, so I am excited to get that out. I may even put it on the episode run. Thanks for commenting Danimal, talk to you later.

Yeah. Sure did. Of course I also used Adobe Photoshop, and Sony Vegas, but all the animation was done on "Anime Studio" (With the exception of some 3D model animations done for a scene). I just use those programs to make my workload a little simpler.

And if you're really curious, Neomarz posted a video describing his technique:
New Bone Rigg tutorial (Studio Mars)
How cool is that? 8)

Wow! Thanks that's a great compliment. You only get a limited time to do what want in this life. I am just trying to give my dream project the best shot I can. This year has been a bit tougher. The first film took a year to make... This second film is taking a little more time, but we are getting there. Thanks for the kind words.

By the way, I checked out your Youtube channel... You have some entertaining stuff there, I loved the ambience of Economan (hope I got the name right). Some interesting techniques. Very inspirational.

Thanks for the kind words.

It's always a good thing when your artwork transcends the general aesthetic of the software you use. A far more immersing experience in my opinion. I think the best compliment comes inadvertently from the viewer when they inquire your choice of program.

I share a similar sentiment regarding life, though slightly more negative if you look at it in a certain way. Ten thousand years from now everything we have ever done will be forgotten and rendered completely redundant...that said, lets do everything because f*ck it.

Lol, I hear that. Artists are the few that try to have immortal life through their work. there are a lot of Artists in my family... Most of who are Gallery painters, hoping to be the next Davinci ( a sentiment I shared myself ). With technology the way it is, I think it's hard to be heard in all this noise. Film making seems to be the new golden age for Artists. I guess you need to be self serving first, then later people will find your spotlight. My film hardly makes a blip on anyone's radar, but I believe in the characters, and general concept... It keeps me going. It's been a long road up to this point, But it's been an amazing journey... even with the failures. I'll keep checking in on your channel. I'm curious to see your next project.

to me, the very act of animating and making my work isn't unlike "Dancing to the music"

Wow, that was a great piece. So true. I think people miss this point a lot. It becomes so important to take in the moments. I find myself fighting against this all the time. Last week my wife told me to go take a walk with her in the rain. I decided to watch something on History channel instead... I actually regretted not going on that walk. The funny thing is... I knew I would regret it, and decided to be a sloth instead. Dancing to the music is the journey itself.

I think your on the right track, understanding that animation is a dance. In the beginning I was a bit lost at how to go about animating a character through a dialogue. I quickly realized that animation is a creative choreography. In my eyes there there are many different approaches to a sequence. The challenge is to find the "one" that creates that magic. Animation is definitely like music. I actually apply some music concepts in my animation... I try to pace my action or expression sequences in rhythm measures. You would be amazed with the similarities between music and animation. The Music Composer for Eve of October (George R. Powell) has a knack for finding music cues in an scene... My point is, we get each other... even though we are working on two different types of creativity. Same with the voice Actors. Animation is an orchestrated effort on all sides.

Thanks for sharing that clip... It was needed. My heads been in the wrong place lately.
