Nov. 11 Second Club WIP

Post by ddrake »

Seeing some posts about the 11 Second Club. Thought I'd check it out, and while the audio clip is pretty obnoxious, strangely enough it lent itself well for using some characters I've made and the zombie theme I have been working with.

Obviously this is still a work in progress. Not sure how much time I'll have to devote to it, or if I'll actually post to 11 Second Club, but I'd love to hear any feedback here if anyone's willing.

Nice cartoon style. I especially like how you've articulated the fingers. I'd suggest holding the key poses for a few frames so they don't seem so twitchy. Good luck on the contest.

They really do seem to move around an awful lot. But the animation really does look good.

Thanks for the feedback. I absolutely agree. I'm probably working backwards in my workflow, tending to create more fluid motion and a range of poses in the beginning and going back through to isolate and strengthen key poses, as opposed to just visualizing or drawing out the important ones first. Something I'm trying to work on.

The 11 second competition is intriguing to me though, because it really forces the choices being an unadjustable time-frame. Hopefully will help train me to not try and make all kinds of movements where there isn't time and it isn't necessary. Can be tricky sometimes to not get lost in the timeline, thinking "Wow, 24 frames! I can do all kinds of things!" Instead of thinking "Hmm, 1 second goes by pretty darn fast."

Anyway, here's a new pass. Cleaned up a little. Still maybe more movement than necessary or ideal, but an improvement I think.

Now on to deciding what approach I want to take with mouth shapes for this.

The eye movement sells it. I'm really impressed with that, it looks very... human, so to speak.

The way you've interpreted the dialogue is very funny. Looking good.

Well, I'm winding up spending more time on this than I thought I would, but it's kinda fun. Here's my last version for tonight. Don't know how much more time I'll have to tinker around, but I think this is pretty passable for my first 11sec effort. Thanks for the positive comments you guys.

I like it, shame you can't make him do a double take when she says 'your job is to stick around'. Good luck.

Looking good! You've got a funny setup and I love when he suddenly lunges at her.
