I'm animating a spotlight with a light that flickers and then fades up. I'm animating the opacity of a folder containing multiple layers; many of which have blur applied to the layer or soft edge applied to the shape. When the opacity for the containing folder is animated no blur effects are rendered where layers overlap. Most of the layers are set to "Add". Is there a way to fix this? Am I doing something wrong?
"Light FX L" is the layer whose opacity I'm animating.

And this is what I get when I render at an opacity less than 100%

Your help is most appreciated.
**EDIT**
I've partially fixed the problem by putting the light ray and the glow together on one layer, but the particles still aren't blurring as they should.
Is there a way to bake a particle system's animation? Then I could copy and paste the shapes onto the same layer as the light ray and glow. It wouldn't be pretty, but that would solve the problem.
**EDIT 2**
Turns out I needed to put blur on the folder containing all the elements—in this case, "Light FX L". It worked in this case, but I can see it not working in other cases where I don't want blur on everything. It'd be nice if this quirky behavior were fixed in future versions of AS.
