I've been trying to import models made in 3Dstudio max into Moho... No problem getting the models in, but for some reason the materials are not translating.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong - the materials look fine in 3DS, but they seem nonexistent in moho. Maybe it's a glitch with the obj conversion?
If anyone has a proven way of getting models with materials from 3Dstudio into Moho, I'd like to hear about it.
trouble importing OBJs with materials

no materials are imported .
Only the colors.
Only way is to UV-Map the model..
And the second is to render your model with alpha channel and put it in Moho (singleframe), then with your assigned materials , but use light carefull.
or put a rendered video in moho and "paint " on another layer over the parts you dont need...
All that i tested , but the only really damned good looking thing is singleframe export with alpha/ import to moho..
If you plan the camerapath in Moho then use the same in your renderer to get the model from the same direction...
I maked a lasergunarmed alien and now i put all 240 animationframes in Moho together.
( 240 frames only one very small shooting sequence).
600 Frames groundsmashing freefalling.

ok.... any tips on how to do this UV-mapping business from 3D studio?
I have considered the alpha-channel export/import (ie compositing), and this is my fall-back...
but the true advantage would be to be able to import a 3D set, and then be able to manipulate the camera freely inside Moho, filming both the characters and sets at the same time...
(otherwise, through the compositing route, I'd have to match the Moho and 3Dstudio camera moves exactly - a huge effort which I'd like to avoid if possible)

here are some tutorials for 3dsmax.

UV mapping isnt really hard to learn, only to understand.
Try to UVmap a simple box for the beginning not a complicated model with 10500 Faces...
Model only with quads no triangles its better.
