Custom Brushes.

Post by TheMinahBird »

I've been searching "how to add brushes to anime studio" but nothing has came up.

I'm guessing its not a feature.

I mean I've tried putting the brushes directly in the folder.

Which folder?

Have you set up your custom content folder? I would strongly recommend doing that first if you haven't. The custom content folder creates a folder with all the "extras" just for you. You can create this folder anywhere on the hard drive and can access it easily under the help menu.

Open your custom content folder, look for the "Brushes" folder, and save or copy custom brushes into that folder. Brushes should be PNG format but could be jpg... uh... I think anyway not sure. PNG is better because there is no compression and allows for transparency.

Brushes need to be a perfect square. They can be as big as you want just don't go crazy ;).

To find the "built in" brushes, it depends on what OS you use. On Mac, the brushes and other similar folders are located inside the application package. Most people don't open the application package. You have to right click the application and select "Show package contents", then drill down into the Contents/Resources/Support folder to find the brushes folder.

On Windows... eh... I am guessing but I think it's in a similar location but in your system apps folder inside probably a Smith Micro folder and then in the Anime Studio Pro application folder.

Go to Help>Set Custom Folder and create it.
Then go to Help>Open Custom folder and there's a folder called "brushes", there you can put your own png files (you will need to restart the software to use the new brushes)

Well actually, if you put them in the applications brushes folder they would still work, but it's easier to put them in the custom content folder. Plus in that folder you see ONLY your custom brushes. They aren't mixed in with all the other brushes that came with the application.

You also have to restart Anime Studio to see new brushes you added.
