The only thing I can think of that might work for you is the Layer Stroke in the layer settings.
The imported image must be "transparent" around the "character" or object with the strokes that are too thin. This also won't do anything about "internal" image strokes.
Basically based on your sample image, if that character were a transparent PNG, meaning the outline and fill of the character were floating over transparency, and you imported that image, you could set a stroke on that layer that matched the color of the image stroke and make the stroke thicker.
You can't see this stroke in preview in the workspace. You can only see it when it's rendered.
You will always have issues with strokes not having matching widths if the images are different sizes/resolutions or if you scale them up and down differently in Anime Studio. This is always going to be a problem and there isn't much you can do to fix it other than what I described above.
This is probably why using vectors is better for stroke based characters because you can adjust the widths to match or turn scale compensation off.

Not sure I understand... when you say import do you mean import then use draw/trace to trace the image? So now it's the equivalent vector. Then by varying stroke line width it can change the outline width just like with vectors because now it's a vector shape. Or is there a way to specify before importing (or tracing) something about stroke width?

No, you could trace it but that's a different more difficult option.
The first simple option is to import the image, click on the layer properties. There is an option to add a stroke around the layer and set it's color and width.
If you imported a transparent png then the stroke will render around the outer edges of the transparent areas of the image layer.

Thanks I found it. I was not even aware of that option, it looks like it would work some of the time, I will play around with it. Thanks for the tip!
