32-bit broken audio preview

Post by CSCorbridge »

I have always animated in AS (currently 9.5) in the 32-bit version on my PC. A couple weeks ago very suddenly I've lost all ability to hear any audio from the timeline. The audio layers aren't broken, and the waveform visual shows up in the timeline, and they render fine, but nothing plays back from the timeline. I've tried a variety of different audio files from both mp3 and wav formats all with no success. Its not an overload issue, I've tried using a blank project w only one layer which is a short wav file and still nothing. Everything works great however, in 64-bit version. I'd like to get the 32-bit working again because I like to do test renders in .mov but 64-bit doesn't support it and its a pain to relaunch to render something. I even tried a full reinstallation of the program and much to my chagrin that didn't even fix it!! Any ideas?? ...and yes, the mute button above the timeline is set properly :)
I'm stumped.
Thanks,
-Casey
