Automatic Seq Image import to switch layer / Smart Bone Dial

Is it possible to import a series of images, and have those images automatically become a switch layer, controlled by a smart bone dial?

I'd like to be able to do a bit of drawn animation in another software, and then import a stack of sequential PNG files, but have a smart bone dial automatically set itself up to reference them all sequentially, the smart bone dial controlling the sequence of the switch layer. All in one step.

Possible to do this with scripting?

Oh and I'd like a pony. :D
