add points ( and move they in animation ) to a shape but ...

Post by max »

hello, I am italian boy and need help :

my operation for example of animation :

1- drawing a hand with 4 fingers at frame zero

2- move to right ( frame 30 ) the slider and move the hand

3- now I want "make a morphing " , by create a new finger ( the 5°) : at frame 40 I add to hand 5 or 6 new points

4- at frame 60 I have moved the new points for give the finger shape

5- now I try to slide the timeline to frame zero but .... AHHHH !! the
hand- shape is deformed !

can you help me ? why add points not at frame zero is a shape-disaster?

I have made same operation with flash and the result is different !

thank you , ciao ciao Massimiliano

Unfortunately, Moho can only handle (correctly) new points added at frame zero, since the new frames you added were not keyframed for the original movement.

Basically, all your drawing mods should occur at frame zero, and before you do any movement of individual points, otherwise you will have to do adjustments at all your keyframes.

I don't know. I just tried this exactly to the description, even to the frame numbers, and got pretty much what I expected. Maybe there is a step you did not say?

I was using the 1st version of the new "render test" version of the Moho program, so there might be some other bug fixes hiding in there.

Interesting... to check it out, I used the old Moho exe file to perform the tests... and got the same results he did. But only when I used "Translate points" tool to move the hand at frame 30.

When I moved it at frame 30 using "Translate layer", it worked fine with no point problems...

Which one did you use on the new Moho test?

Both the Translate Points tool and the standard Magnet tool. So it was all point operations. I also threw in, on frame 26 or thereabouts, a Rotate Points bit with all but the new points selected. As soon as I get the chance I'll give it a go with the non-render test version and see what's what.

Oh, yeah, I also had tried it with outline-only shapes. Have to sleep, so I can't check right now if there is something wonky with the fills.

Well, it's very encouraging that the new Moho can handle this. Excellent!

I can only imagine how smart the algorithms for that must be.

You could try this:
Create a new layer and a shape called "Hand frame 0" or so (it shall have the look of the hand at frame new.)
Create a "hand frame 60" layer and a shape which looks like the hand shall look at frame 60.
put "hand frame 0" and "hand frame 60" (two sepearate layers) into a switch layer and check the "Interpolate Sub-Layers" when double-clicking the Switch.

Now you can simply goto frame 60, right-click on your switch-layer and select "hand frame 60".
Make sure at frame 0 the layer is switched to "hand frame 0".

If the shapes are simple enough moho will interpolate (which is similar to morphing) the sublayers and that shall do.

Tell me if it works.
