export png from AS to after effects help
so this is something I have been struggling with for quite some time. It seems that when you export video from the anime studio project, the video is not good in terms of resolution and audio. I have heard of different work arounds for these issues.
the one most intriguing to me is exporting the layer comp in PNG file formats. then taking the PNG into a post production software such as After Effects.
can someone show me either a link, video or respond showing how this can be accomplished. I want my animations to look the best they can without all the weird pixelation that appear on my video when I export my project.
and if anyone were so kind i would like someone to show or point me to a link on how to take transparent PNG anime studio projects and incorporate those in After Effects to achieve results such as motion blur.
I basically wants to make my animations legit like Selgin's after having gone through post-production
Thanks!

Re: export png from AS to after effects help
Well, I mostly export to quicktime mov file, with png millions of colors + compression.
That format works well in most of the cases. Anyway, if you want to create an image sequence, just export your animation as png files. It will create as many png files as frames your animation has (so try to export all that inside a folder).
Then import them to After effects. In the import window you select the first image and check "image sequence". Your sequence will be imported at the default frame rate After Effects could have. But you can right click the imported sequence and set another frame rate (for example, change it from 30 to 24). I don't remember exactly the name of the menu item to do that, but shouldn't be hard to find.

Awesome thanks for your help Selgin! I will do the best with the information that you have given me. Unfortunately I don't have a Mac so I can't take advantage of the quick time format. I have a windows 8.1 64bit machine.selgin wrote:Well, I mostly export to quicktime mov file, with png millions of colors + compression.

What format works best with Windows? Is it the h.264?

Re: export png from AS to after effects help
I guess it depends on what you're asking. You can use a png sequence to get stuff to AE with an alpha. For an intermediate video codec for high quality editing/delivery that ALSO supports alpha, I've heard Avid DNxHD is really good and free (I'm on a Mac, but some Windows users on other forums swear by it). For compressed deliveries, yes H.264 is the standard. If you've got Media Encoder (I'm assuming you do), the H.264 presets they have are great, so I'd use them. Anyway, hope this helps.

Re: export png from AS to after effects help
I don't have a mac either (don't tell anyone, but I HATE Steve Jobs). I use a PC with Win7 (don't tell anyone, but I equally HATE Bill Gates). If you are working on 64bit, you won't be able to export to move. But that simply solves by opening the 32bit AS version on File>Relaunch in 32-bit modemtbuck24 wrote:Unfortunately I don't have a Mac so I can't take advantage of the quick time format. If you have Quicktime installed on the computer, you will be allowed to export to mov.

Haha that was hilarious!! I will remember that it is the 32 bit that allows the quicktime.
Thanks Selgin!

That's good to know! I forget that we also have the x32 version installed. Thanks for the tip.selgin wrote:If you have Quicktime installed on the computer, you will be allowed to export to mov.
Curiously, a few x64 programs I use do support Quicktime output, but I imagine these programs have special internal code that allows this trickery.
