My work around is to just move the points in the body with the smart bone rotation of the upper arm (and body turn), but if I could separate translation from rotation in the binding the adjustment would be automatic. My hunch is that this is not currently part of Anime Studio Pro 10, but it might be a nice feature in the next release. However, if there's a way to do it now I'd love to know. Much thanks in advance for any suggestions

Bind points only for translation
I don't know if this is possible in Anime Studio Pro 10, but I was wondering if I can bind a set of points to a bone only for translation (ie movement). The situation is that I have the torso and upper arms on different layers. I want a more realistic shoulder motion where the center of rotation of the shoulder moves in (and up) as the arm is raised. I bind the upper arm points to the upper arm bone. I want to bind the body points around the shoulder to the upper arm, but I only want them to move with the center of rotation and not rotate with the bone. Another reason this is important is, because I'm doing a body turn as well and I want the points of the body shoulder and upper arm to be considered a unit.
Sounds like you just need a collar bone between the spine and arm.

Re: Bind points only for translation
I actually do have collar bones. I'm guessing that you're thinking of using of the shoulder points being bound to the collar bone and then use bone scaling to shift the upper arm in on a turn. That's what I tried, but the bone scaling makes the body shoulder points move in more than the outer points of the upper arm (because the upper arm points are bound to the upper arm bone).
Maybe there's another approach you were thinking of, but that's the one I tried with the collar bone.

I would make the body turn smart bone adjust the points bound to the collar bone...as well as control the collar bone scaling.

Re: Bind points only for translation
That's what I meant by the work around. It works, it's just that this is a case where I want to bind for translation not rotation and it would be cool if Anime Studio could do that. Thanks.
