MacBook Pro Retina, Mid 2012 15 in. OS X 10.9.5, Anime Studio Pro 11
I am trying to import svg files from Affinity Design the Apple App of the year.(snicker) anyway they do not come in very accurately. and eps file does not even import.

Re: Import eps or svg ?
AS has limited compatibility with SVG (especially with things like clipping and effects) and EPS is a container format that can include raster as well as vector data.

When I import eps nothing happens. And when I import Svg a lot of the vertices (nodes) are all wrong. For what the software costs you think it would work after all they claim it will. Thanks.(venting over).synthsin75 wrote:AS has limited compatibility with SVG (especially with things like clipping and effects) and EPS is a container format that can include raster as well as vector data.

Re: Import eps or svg ?
Unfortunately vector formats for exchange between programs never have been agreed upon as much as bitmap formats. So while in most cases a JPG, PNG or TIFF may import into all applications (but not always, mind you), this is not true for vector formats.
And it never was. In the 90's you had to specifically create EPS for Mac or PC separately, which was a nightmare when importing stuff from different designers into one document (usually Quark Xpress then). There was a common bug when a large EPS of a gradient imported as hundreds of stripes (I think this still happens sometimes).
Since Adobe owns the whole line of publishing software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign), EPS import at least works within this pool - most of the time. Alternatively PDF might work as well.
Enter SVG. The "vector" in the name only deviates from the fact that this is a container format, too, and might contain bitmaps. So you have the same problems here. And since it's a relatively "new" format, support by applications is even worse.
Now add the fact that there's more than one way to describe vectors, and even more than one flavour of Bezíer points, and voilà, chaos ensues.
I've had them all, and I have them up to here. I don't expect anything to import properly, so I design in AS - much faster, more accurate, und much better suited for animation.

Thank you for the reply. I was enlightened. I guess I will be using Anime Studio as my vector software as well as animation too bad I just bought Affinity Design.
