anime studio goes slow importing video

hello i would like to edit a video making shapes and animating them on top the footage.but when i import a video the anime studio works very slow and when i try to move the shapes is impossible or onion skin option...why happen this? its the software or maybe i need a more powerfull computer?

If the imported video is very large then Anime Studio will slow down. Can you make a low quality version of your imported video? You could then swap to the high quality one when you want to render out your final animation?
