exporting with transparency without quicktime

Post by anlu15 »

Hi,
I've been using debut 10 for a couple of years now and have gotten used to exporting my animations with a transparent background for use in larger video projects. Unfortunately, when I went to export my latest work, I found that the option to export with Quicktime was no longer available on the list. It is my understanding that there are now security concerns with Quicktime and I suspect it is missing because of updates done by my company's tech support. Is there another way to export with transparency not using Quicktime?

Thanks for your help.

Yeah, your IT probably did remove it. But it is only the Quicktime Player and web plugins that are vulnerable.

Considering all the panic about this, I'm not sure if your IT will allow it, but I feel comfortable installing Quicktime without the player or plugins. You just have to do a custom install and disable everything that it will allow you to disable (should only leave Quicktime Essentials).

Here's some further explanation and directions on install: http://www.pro-tools-pc.com/apple-quick ... rity-risk/
And I've seen this advice given many other places.

If your IT doesn't allow that much then your only alternative is to render to PNG image sequence.
