How do I erase all the Animation and keep the scene

I created an awesome scene and used my characters in it. I would like to know how to erase the animation while keeoing my characters in the scene so I can reanimate them diffently. Is the a technique for resetting the data while still preserving the characters and scene?

Menu Animation > delete animation. Be sure to save a copy first.
