What is the best method for rigging a Character?

Post by waterdown »

It seems that the two most used methods for rigging. One is to split the character up into separate body parts at frame zero and then put into spearte layers and add bones. (the tutorial method) The second is to use switch layers to seaparte the bones. Which is the best method? Are there pros and cons for each? Thanks Brian.

i´d say splitting it up to layers is the better way.
Then you can for example put an arm/hand under a switch layer,
if you need a different hand position or sth like that.

the drawback is that you can get lots of layers.
