Hi.
I've been meaning to discuss this for a long time but only now has it actually presented a real problem for me.
It's regarding Moho's camera. I am trying to get a smooth zoom out from the upper corner of a map. I found I have to do this using the zoom camera and also the pan camera otherwise the zoom tool just runs off on it's own course. The problem starts when I start to keyframe on the x plane. The zoom starts moving all over the place with sudden jolts as it's trying to rectify it's final position. Frustrating!!!
I need to stay focused on the corner of the map as I zoom out
Can anyone suggest how I might be able to get this final shot with a smooth zoom? Is it possible to target the camera to a point or a bone somehow and avoid using keyfames on the x plane?
Thanks for any help with this!
Cheers
D.K
Unfortunately the camera can't get connected to anything else in Moho.
If I need better control over camera moves I use a nested folder approach:
group layer X moves
- group layer Y moves
- - all animation
I only keyframe the zoom factor in the camera, all movement is done with moving the X and Y layers. Much more control.

Hi Slowtiger.
Great idea! I got some ok results with the motion graph but your idea has a lot more control. I was introducing a guy who worked for Disney to Moho a couple years ago and he wanted me to do a similar camera zoom. Man it was terrible. Nothing I could do could make it smooth. Needless to say he wasn't impressed that Moho was incapable of such a simple task:(
Very embarrassing!
This setup exactly mimics an old rostrum camera stand. There was a crank for horizontal and a crank for vertical movement, another to tilt the bed, and a last one to move the camera up or down for changnig the field size.

Would you care to elaborate, please. I`m not quite sure how does your concept work.
Are those 2 empty folders where the whole content is in -- all animation?
Nested folders. Animation is in Group layer Y which is in Group layer X.
I do that quite often, put my whole scene into a group because I need some delicate movement.

If you want to zoom, use the Track Camera tool and hold alt while dragging. (You're actually moving the camera back and forth instead of zooming, but this works great in most 2D situations and you never get the weird wobbly movement when combining camera translations and zooms)
Separate the dimensions of the Track Camera keyframes and use as little keyframes as possible.
Lukas.
That is brilliant. Thanks for the tip. it works amazingly well.
So we're just using the z axis as the zoom not the camera.
I wish I had thought of that
