Reference layers not working Ver.13

Just playing around started working with references and it does nothing with color change or transform and it does something glitchy with point movements.
Got the color to finally change but after clicking on Update but the nodes are still doing something funky. (Win PC)

Opened up tutorial 7.1 changes the color of the top row not bottom the points will move but if I apply a curve this doesn't change on the ref. ???

References are working in 13 for me.

Just wondering, does the Reference layer still not work after using Synch All Channels To Original command?

It works the same as it did in v12.5.

I opened new document Created a filled circle with an outline on Layer 1
clicked on the ref layer button to create
dragged the ref layer off the original to see both work (in perfect harmony)

***And as I write this I realize my mistake I moved the ref layer with the transform tool not the layer tool double
