Zoom Out issue

Post by opeth »

Everything works fine with my upgrade from version 13 to version 13.5. This version works really stable, but my only complaint is that while drawing, as in version 13, zoom out is common. Are you also experiencing this problem? I use too many layer selector tabs on the workspace, maybe it's because of that, I don't know

Do you mean when using the Blob Brush in 13.5.5? When drawing to the edge of the workspace, it will zoom out to encompass the entire shape. I believe it's always done that, even in Moho 13.0 and earlier. The best you can do when using this tool is to maximize the workspace and avoid drawing to the edge. There are other issues with the freehand tools (FH and BB) and I generally avoid using them except for blocking out animation and for notating scenes or when doing the simplest FBF effects.

In Moho, it's better to use the Add Point tool to draw vectors, especially when you're drawing for rigging, bones deformation and Smart Bone Actions. For anything else, I use bitmap images from a paint program like Photoshop or Krita for 'organic' art, or SVG art from Illustrator when I need complex or more technical vector art.

For most of my character art (i.e., Boss Baby, etc.,) I use Add Point. To make the line work of the vector art look more 'natural', paint a character sheet in a paint program, import that, and then trace it using Add Point. The result is a cleaner vector drawing with optimal point placement for the best deformation quality.

BTW, for 'point-by-point' drawing I recently started using Kuzkuz's new MR Curve Tool 3.0. It's a faster and easier draw with than using Add Point, and it's click-only (vs click-and-drag) helps to prevent or minimize RSI. I highly recommend it!

If something else is causing unwanted zoom-out for you, can you provide more details? AFAIK, it's only the Blob Brush that has this problem.

Hope this helps.

I never use a blob brush. It happens like this. Let's say there are characters and other objects in a crowded scene. Let one of the objects be a soccer ball. When you select the soccer ball with the layer selector and turn the mouse wheel to zoom out, it zooms out very quickly and the scene remains tiny. In other words, instead of 2x zoom out with mouse movement, it suddenly becomes 10x zoom out. Likewise, when there are many characters in the scene, I select the characters with the layer selector to do the job quickly. After selecting it, when you turn the mouse wheel to zoom out again, it seems to zoom in 10x. Could you try it yourself, please?

When you pay a little more attention, it's like the mouse zoom out movement I mentioned earlier. The mouse I use is Logitech MX master 3 for mac. The mouse wheel is a very fast mouse. However, the zoom out movement I have made on the mouse wheel is 2x and 10x.

I solved the problem by asking the question. :D Mx master 3's wheel is running very fast. It's a heavy wheel and when you turn it, it spins like it will spin endlessly. I lowered the mouse wheel speed quite a bit in the Logitech settings. It's not a problem for now.

I don't normally use the mouse wheel to zoom because it's not as precise as Shift+RMB, but even when I use the mouse wheel to zoom, the jumping is relatively small. For example, here's three levels of zoom I see when using the mouse wheel...

Image

I'm wondering if you need to adjust sensitivity in the mouse driver or update the driver? You may even want to try a different mouse.

Alternatively, try these navigation options instead...

RMB = Pan
RMB+Ctrl = Rotate
RMB+Shift = Zoom

I find it smoother and easier to work this way, when using a mouse or a pen.

Hope this helps.

I can say that the Logitech MX master 3 is the best mouse I have ever used. It has a special place to put your thumb if you can browse it online. I'm at the pc for 10-12 hours every day, I don't have the slightest pain in my hand, and all the keys can be custom-adjusted for each application. If I come to the problem, I did not update the driver anyway, logitech has a special program for this mouse. I just lowered the wheel speed

Cool! Glad you solved it.

Yeah, I use the MX Master 3 too and it's be best mouse I've owned. I love how I can switch it can between three different computers with a press of a button. 😸

BTW, if you have the Logitech program for adjusting the mouse settings then you have the Logitech driver installed. From time to time it will let you know when there is an update.
