Hello All,
I justed wanted to share my enthusiasm concerning MOHO!
I bought Toonboom studio 3.0 last year hoping it would solve my
2d character animation woes and found it to be rather slim on
features. Then I tried the Solo demo and thought hey this is cool!
But not at $2999! Then I read a review in animation magazine of a little known app called MOHO! Downloaded the demo and was immediately
blown away. Bought it and 6 months later have a few killer tests with
characters walking and just posing around. Exported as layered .PSD
files , imported as a comp into aftereffects 6.5 and whoa it was zen-like!
I also bought it for the local TV station that I am Senior Designer for and
have usesd it for on-air animated stingers and some commercial production.
MOHO = $99
Papagayo = $0
After Effects = $999 (Pro Version)
SOLO = Whatever
Thanks LM for a really unique app!

MOHO + Papagayo + After Effects = SOLO

Whyman,
I totally agree with your assessment of Moho vs. Toon Boom.
I've been using Toon Boom for the past 3 years. It is what it it is...a traditional 2d cell animation program. However, when I started using Moho a few months ago, I found that it is more than a 2d program...it's resembles a 3d app! I couldn't believe the results using the bones and ik constraints during animation.
I'm a Designer for the new CW affiliate in Kansas City. Like you, I've bought Moho to use for our on-air look. I would love to chat with you about some of the animations you've worked on for your station.
Drop me a line if you get a chance:

Curt,
Good to hear that you share the same enthusiasm as I do. Of course with the May book (sweeps) I’ve been really busy and
haven’t had much time checking e-mails or working much on my pilot for a series completely done in Moho, Cinema 4D, Photoshop,
Aftereffects and Illustrator. I’m still working on conceptual designs for all the characters, backgrounds ect. Before using Moho I was doing a lot of tests and projects within Hash's Animation Master but found it to be very time comsuming. More so than I would like to spend on it only because there are so many ideas and too little time to do them. With Moho I have found an almost instantaneous gratification very similar to that of playing a musical instrument.
So far at our local station we have done one commercial (bugslayer)
and one animated open for a local variety show using Moho. Kudos to my pal and designer Chris for those.
I personally have done supporting graphics for various projects using Moho. But have bigger plans for Moho being my main character (storytelling) app of choice.
We'll chat later when I get more time.

I find Moho and After Effects to be a dynamic duo worth of hero status when it comes to solving my animation problems. One is the product of a multi-billion $ corporation and the other is a product of a guy with a wife and a new baby. Who says the day of the individual genius is dead? Thomas Edison would have been proud of you, Lost Marble.
