Fake-Volumetric Fog Effect
Hello all. Just thought I'd share my latest work. An Xmas horror story - told by me on the toilet.
I had fun making this in Moho - I like how the fog turned out. I created everything in three lots of layers: Background, Midground and Foreground and then using Fog brushes I have in Clip Studio Paint I created BG, MG and FG fog layers. Then when I layered everything up in Moho I used the Z-Axis to create space betweeen them and then when animating the fog slowly drifting past I just made sure that they move at different speeds. Having the BG Fog move slowly with the MG Fog a bit faster and the FG fog a bit faster still seems to work best. It's subtle but it kind of gives it a fake 3D depth / volumetric effect. Just thought I would share.
Happy Christmas Everyone!
Frank

Nice work. I watched the whole video. I can only imagine how long it took you to complete this 10+ minute animation. I hope to reach half your level in the coming months.

Thank you! Yes it's a lot of work but a lot of fun. I really like detailed backgrounds and that's actually the most time consuming part.
Character rigs initially took me a while to do but I've gotten faster at it the more I've created characters. As with anything it all comes down to practice. Never be afraid to experiment or try different things as that sometimes pays off.
This year I am hoping to put togther a few tutorials - probably on a separate channel. Just in case anyone is interested. I'll let people know here when I do.
