What is the easiest way to draw a semi cicle (both filled and open).

draw a semi circle

Below is an image of how I would do it:

Ooops! I left in those dangling lines on the right side shape... I thought they were needed but they aren't.
Basically use the regular old circle tool and just add in a line splitting it in the middle. Then create the shapes with those two semicircles.
You still have the vectors for the whole circlr but they won't show with out a shape.
The image on the right would require this "special" brush I created for "round" corners located here:

With out that... you get funky corners on the semi circle if you use a large stroke. If it isn't stroked you don't need the special brush.
Here is a sample of what can be done pretty easy with this:

I used the extra lines to force the curve on the inside without adding extra points.

Dagnabbit!
One more trick...

Draw a regular circle... then use the script under:
Scripts | Draw | Split Curve...
Type in a good sized number... I used 4.
Break the curve and delete just one side and using the add tool connect the semicircle. Peak the points on the corners of the shape. It aint "perfect" but close enough.
You now have a semicircle shape that is "continuous" vector lines. Corners are still a bit funky... that is why I use my brush thingy.
