A Technical Idea for Character Rotation in Moho

Post by Aziz »

While rotating characters in Moho, I noticed a powerful and useful technique. For example, when a character is facing right and we want to rotate it to face left, there are some technical points we need to follow to get an accurate and correct result.

First, the number of points on the head must be symmetrical — equal on both the left and right sides.
Second, we need to select the entire shape of the head and press Side Flip. The result will show that the head has rotated, but there's an issue: the points from the right side now appear on the left, and vice versa. This causes an undesirable deformation in the shape.

To fix this, we just need to swap the position of each point with its mirrored counterpart.

For example, if the head is made of 8 points:
6 points on the sides (3 on the right, 3 on the left), and 2 points at the top and bottom.
We select one point from the right and its opposite from the left, then press Side Flip, followed by Vertical Flip.
Repeat this process for each pair of symmetrical points.

Note: Only select two points at a time — one from the right and one from the left. If you select more than two, the operation won't work correctly.

Now that we understand how this rotation logic works, why not create a custom button in Moho that performs all these actions with a single click?
It would save a lot of time and make the process much easier for beginners.
