Feature suggestion undock document window

Post by eugenemapondera »

I think Moho can benefit from undocking one inactive document window/tab. This functionality exists in Photoshop and allows the drag-and-drop transfer of pre-typed and styled text, bitmap graphics, vector graphics, smart objects from one document tab to another without engaging any import dialogue boxes. This would enable Moho to have similar non-destructive drag-and-drop of shape objects, sound clips, bitmaps vector shapes along with premade gradients or styles from an inactive document to an active undocked document. Why this would help:

1. It's efficient and eliminates dialogue boxes
2. Helps to transfer prototyped graphics, text, etc., into an active document without relying on copy paste
3. Introduces the transfer of a group(layer folder) containing multiple vector layers into an active document, along with their styles
4. Simply saves time and encourages non-distructive workflow.

I'd love to see this functionality added before version 15, and I'm interested in knowing if it has been considered in the past.

I agree. For me, I would use this so I can visually compare two projects at the same time. FYI, I currently do this by running two versions of Moho (14.4 & 14.3) simultaneously. It works, but it's not ideal, of course. :D

By the way, in case you're not aware of this feature, you can use Copy Layer and Paste Layer to transfer groups between two open projects. (Not to be confused with the regular Copy and Paste commands.)

Ideally, I think Copy Layer/Paste Layer should be in the R-Click menu of the Layers Window, but since they don't exist there, I put them in a custom button panel I keep above the Layers Window...

This button panel saves me from having to mouse across the screen every time I need to use the commands. It will be available on my Ko-fi page soon, but of course, you can use regular shortcuts to do the same thing.

It may not be drag-and-drop, but Copy Layer/Paste Layer is very useful.
