Hide one shape

Is it possible to hide only one shape in a layer (and animate this). I know it is possible to hide an entire layer but is it also possible to do this for only one shap in a layer (or do I have to create sub layers for every shape that needs to be hidden at some point in the animation?).

To hide a single shape, just turn the fill and line colors' opacity down to 0. When ready to see it again, zoom it back to 255.
