Reset image layers to default binding

Post by appelgurk »

I've been using the bind layer tool with region binding to bind an image layer to a bone. Then I wanted a new, second bone to affect the layer, but the bind layer tool only seem to work with one bone at the time.

I did a test from scratch with the default settings and then it worked fine. But when I am in the middle of setting up a rig and a layer has been through the "bind layer process", there seem to be no way to reset to the layer to default. At least releasing the layer and Flexi-bind it again does not work. Any ideas?

In other words:

New project
Import images
Add bones
Region binding

This works fine. Image layer respond to several bones.

New project
Import images
Add bones
Region binding
Release layer
Bind layer
Oh, add new bone
Release layer
Flexi-bind layer

Does not. Image layer only respond to one bone.

It seems to me that rigging is a process where you have to know exactly what you want before you start. One mistake, and you'll have to start all over again. On complex rigs this is very frustrating.

After you have used Flexi-bind layer in your second sequence, you also have to go into the Layer Settings (the [...] button on Layers panel) for the image layer(s), go to the Image tab, and tick "Warp using bones".

Otherwise you get your bones influencing an image's position (according to the rules of binding) but not causing warping, and if you have regional binding some bones probably won't appear to affect the image at all, which sounds like what you are seeing.

Regards, Myles.
