Movie 1X play option

Post by F.M. »

When using movie files in the Image Layer, there should be an option to set the number of loops the file will be rendered.

Yes, this is definitely a good idea. I'd also like to be able to set a start frame for a movie, so that it would start when I want it to, and not just at the beginning of the animation.

I agree... we need some more control over playing video on layers. However here's some tips that might help...

---------------
I Can't help with the first issue but...

To get a movie on a layer to start at different points you can set it's visible attribute to OFF.

The movie doesn't start until it is visible.

So if you want it to start at a later point you change where it becomes visible in the time line. For instance you would set it visible earlier than you need so that it gets to the frame you want it to start playing later in the time line.

If you stop and start by changing the visible attribute the movie starts over from the beginning. This is annoying.

This is not a perfect solution by any means but it is a workaround in some situations. I did this with rendered movie layers that appeared on a TV screen behind a TV announcer character. I used an image of the first frame under the movie layer. When I wanted the scene to play I made the movie layer visible which hid the image layer but matched perfectly since they were identical.

EDIT:

You can sort of pause on the first frame by setting keys for visibility to "on" on every frame you want to pause. This causes the animation to constantly stay on frame 1. I suppose if you wanted it to stop looping over and over you could use that trick to make it stop.
