ahh gradient trouble!

Post by jhobratsch »

I have recently purchased Anime Studio 5 regular $50 version and I'm trying to do the online tutorials. I got stuck on tutorial two when I was trying to do a gradient for the hills drawing. It won't work! None of my fill effects seem to work. Am I a complete idiot? There's no render button under file correct? I appreciate any help you can give me.

Hi J

You're doing everything correctly.

Gradients don't show in the working preview.

File -> Render will be added to the standard version in a minor update due out some time soon.

In the meantime, you can only see the gradient by exporting your animation - File -> Export Animation from frame 1 to frame 1 as an AVI or Quicktime should pop up a preview (with a registered version) in whatever you have set as a media player for that format, and you should see the gradient.

Tutorials for Anime Studio 5?

Post by jhobratsch »

Ok so I have begun to realize that the tutorials for anime studio 5 were written for a different version of A.S. or a different program. In one lesson they ask me to add a character to my scene and that character isn't on file! What's the deal?! Is there any sites that have online tutorials that are up to date with Anime Studio 5? This makes me angry.
Thanks,
Josh

Hi Josh,

Apart from the File -> Render, a known problem which will be fixed when the update comes out, everything else should be okay.

Are you sure you are looking in the right folder?

I assume you are talking about Frank in Tutorial 1.4

C:\Program Files\e frontier\Anime Studio\Tutorials\1 - Basics
and the file itseld is called Tutorial Extras
(This is for Windows, Macs and Linux machines will have something equivalent in the folder path)

Don't mix up the filename of Tutorial Extras with the folder name of
C:\Program Files\e frontier\Anime Studio\Extra Files
which only contains a Photoshop export script.

Regards, Myles.
