Change Graphics during an animation.

Post by [ASPro]Chris »

Hi, I'm new to Anime Studio Pro and I still have some problems.

Check out my fantastic animation first
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3Q-6M-UM0w (It's my first animation, so please...:D)

Well ... I want to change the mouth-graphic during the animation but I have no Idea how to do this. I can actually change the graphic for the whole animation but this is not what I need ;).

I supose this is one of the pre-made characters from ContentParadise.
If it is made with image layers you can do what you want by several ways:

1) The brute force. Make your own character with vector layers. Move points by the timeline.
2) If the mouth is obtained from the pre-made character as a separate layer you can insert it into a switch layer and create new mouths (with Photoshop for example) and include them in the same switch layer folder. Just insert switch layer keyframes by the timeline selecting each mouth shape every time.
3) If the mouth is part of the head then you can create some kind of smile wrapping the image with bones.

If all mentioned stuff sounds weird to you (vector layers, switch layer, keyframes, bones, ...) then it is time to read the built in Help from Anime Studio Pro program. I reccomend to do all the tutorials step by step. Then you're ready to ask for more complex issues.

I don't want to be bad-mannered but have you read the built in help?

Anyway, switch layers are an special bone layer type where only one layer is shown each time. inserting a keyframe in the switch layer channel would produce a change between one child layer of the switch layer and the previous one in time. (to do that just place the cursor at the desired frame and right click over the switch layer and select the child layer to show). If ALL the child layers are vector layers and ALL the child layers have exactly the same amount of points, then the transition between a layer and other can be interpolated (linear) If that not happens the change is like an step change.

Switch layers were designed for lip sync. But its uses are very wide from head turns to dynamic change of shape order.

Please ask something more particular to give a proper answer.

The help don't have much information about switch layers possibilities.
