Saving a layer?

If I made a scene and there is a object/layer that I want to re-use in another scene/prosject; Is there a way to save one layer only, or do I need to remove all the other layers in that scene to save my specific layer?

There's no need to do any of this. If you have another file open and choose "import AS object", you can go to that original file and see every layer on the top level, and you can import one of these into your new file. I usually import what's on the top level and erase everything inside I don't need.
