turning a page

Post by touchdown »

I'm working on some point animation to "turn a book page".

This is a test I made tonight. Not much but it's a start to build off of.

I'm looking for suggestions on how to turn/warp the text that will be on the pages....big text, like story book. I'll need to import a nice paper texture and build a good "book cover" for the edges.

anyone?

Perhaps Muuvist's technique for his flying carpet will serve your purpose. His sample looks like a turning page, and you can use a bitmap image in place of the vector art if you want a texture or words on a page.

Not curved, but Mikdog's one was a good choice.

Thanks guys.

Question, stupid one, but how do you import the text file with the keyframe information?

I've never had a need to so far, and honestly just stick to the tricks that get me done for what I need.

Thanks again.

Very nice...

I have tried to do that for some months but I couldn't reach my aim. So I have left... and I have used the flipbook swf object :

And now I see your animation : Congratulations !!!
I'm very intersting in your project... I will look at this thread !!!

Thanks guys.

Yeah, it took about 3 hours of point animation to get that far. I used a mask the shape of the "book" and then simply slid around an angled rectangle with fuzzy edges for the shadow.

I like the carpet. it looks easy for making the pages turn, but i'll have to find a way to rig a bone in the text...

maybe I'll just use images for the pages, that would be easier to rig and warp rather than text anchors.

I just made a layer with text inside the bone group, and it worked nicely!

The text warped over as I had hoped. I need to find a way to get bones in my pages that i made as I like my turning page motion better.

At least i know it can be done. thanks to all
