positioning in a 3d scene

Post by dreeko13 »

im trying to create a simple square room using png images imported into "a.s", now the difficulty im having is with the positioning of the characters on the floor how can i ensure that they are actually on it and how can i stop them disappearing beneath it partially when they move further away from the camera?

the whole 3d scene thing is a bit glossed over in the official tutorial

help!

Hmm,

I would use the 3D ROTATE tool to look around your scene in 3D. I think it's the icon with the 2 circular arrows. You can position the virtual camera to have a look at whether your character's feet are clipping through the floor.

It helps if you position characters' layer centre icons (cross) at foot level. Once you have positioned your character as Mikdog suggests, any numeric readouts you get on other characters will tell you whether their feet are on the floor too.

Also, if you subsequently scale a character, they will be scaled downwards towards the feet, which saves you having to reposition them.
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
