Music format requirements

Post by Darramouss »

Hey all.

I've been trying to render an animation with some music but the music keeps dropping out of tune a third of the way through and then correcting itself just near the end of the animation. I've looked in the manual to see if there's a particular format that the music must be to play and render correctly but can't seem to find anything on the topic.

So far I've tried the following formats...

48k, 16 bit wav
96k, 16 bit wav
48k, 16 bit aiff
96k, 16 bit aiff

Any suggestions?

When playing back within the application, there may be occasional skips or dropouts. This is because there's a lot going on. But it should be pretty close. When you render out an actual movie, there shouldn't be a problem - the audio should play smoothly. Have you tried rendering out a movie file?

Yes, I tried rendering out the animation with the varying audio files and they all had a dip in pitch in the same spot. The pitch recovered near the end of the animation in the same spot, too.

Just about everything I do has music in it, and I have never encountered this. Are you sure the pitch anomaly you're describing isn't in the source file, too?

I generated the music via SonicFire Pro a few times and listened to the file each time before embedding it in to the animation file to make sure it sounded correct. I don't understand why it's happening. Could it be because the original file was created in ASP5.6?

I've tried the music at 44k, 16 bit wav and it doesn't seem to mind that. Why would that be?
